• This festival is dedicated to Sri Krishna and Radha.

• It is celebrated on a full moon day and is also known as Dol Purnima.

• The festival is considered to be an auspicious occasion by Parsis around the globe.

• It has its origins in the Iranian religion of Zoroastrianism and is thus rooted in the traditions of the Iranian people.

• It is the month in which the Quran is believed to be revealed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

• Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

•Tamil was the first Indian language status in 2004.

•Other languages to have achieved the same status are Sanskrit (2005), Kannada (2008), Telugu (2008), Malayalam (2013), and Odia (2014).

• When his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, was executed by Aurangzeb, Guru Gobind Singh was formally installed as the leader of the Sikhs at the age of nine, becoming the tenth and final human Sikh Guru.

• He founded the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699and introduced the Five Ks. (Kesh, kangha. kara, kachcha, kirpan) the five ar- ticles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times.

• The warriors in this dance dress in their traditional costumes and follow strict techniques of Chhau while performing the dance.

• In Mayurbhanj Chhau, the dancers do not use masks which is a characteristic fea- ture of Chau of other regions.

• It is the oldest church, not

• just of Guwahati but the entire northeastern region. Its construction started in 1844 and it was consecrated in 1850.

•The festival is celebrated at the beginning of September every year, after the sowing of the seeds, to seek a good harvest and prosperity.

•The celebrations of the Solung festival lasts for five days and is divided into three parts which are Sopi Yekpi, Binnayat and Ekop.

• The species is critically endangered by hunting and loss of its habitat, which consists of large expanses of dry grassland and scrub.

• The state of Rajasthan initiated "Project Great Indian Bustard", on World Environment Day 2013.
