Jokha Alharthi, the first female Omani novelist to be translated into English, has won the Man Booker International Prize 2019 for her novel Celestial Bodies. She shared the prize equally with her translator, American academic Marilyn Booth.

Vinoba Bhave was the 1st Magsaysay Award winner. Human rights activist Vinoba Bhave was among the first five individuals to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award in its year of incertion in 1958. Bhave received the Community Leadership award for his dedication to "propagation of a new kind of social revolution in India".

The 2017 Ramon Magsaysay Award recipients are Ishizawa Yosiyaki (Japan), Lilima de Lima (Philippines), Nababan Abdan (Indonesia), Te Tony (Singapore), Philippines Educational Theater Association and Shanmugam Gethsi (Sri Lanka). The Ramon Magsaysay Award for the year 2022 was presented to Sothiara Chhim (Cambodia), Tadashi Hattori (Japan), Bernadette Madrid (Philippines) and Gary Benchedhib (Indonesia).
