CAPF (AC) 2021 (Paper-1) (Question 51-100)

Total Questions: 50

21. The difference of compound interest and simple interest of a sum of money at the rate of 5% per year for 2 years is250. The sum is

Correct Answer: (a) ₹1,00,000
Solution:Simple interest for 2 years = 5 + 5 = 10%

Compound interest for 2 years

= 5 + (5 + (5 × 5)/100) = 5 + 5.25 = 10.25%

∴ Difference of SI and CI for 2 years

= 10.25 - 10 = 0.25%

According to the question,

0.25% = 250

∴ 1% = 250/0.25

∴ 100% = 250/0.25 × 100 = (250 × 100 × 100)/25 = 1,00,000

So, the sum is₹ 1,00,000.

22. How much water is to e added to 75 ml of alcohol that the mixture contains 25% of alcohol?

Correct Answer: (b) 225 ml
Solution:25% = 1/4

Let alcohol in the mixture is x.

Water in the mixture is 3x.     (∴ total mixture is 4x)

According to the question,

x = 75 ml

∴ 3x = 75 × 3 = 225ml

So, 225 ml water is to be added.

23. If 35% of a number is 416 more than 27% of the same number, then the number is

Correct Answer: (a) 5200
Solution:Let the number is x.

Then, according to the question,

2 × 35/100 = x × 27/40 + 416

⇒ (35x)/100 - (27x)/100 =416.

⇒ 35x - 27x 100 =416

⇒ 8x/100 = 416

⇒ x = 5200

∴ Number is 5200

24. In India, Cardamom Hills are regarded as a continuation of the

Correct Answer: (d) Western Ghats
Solution:The Cardamom Hills are southern hills of India and part of the southern Western Ghats located in southeast Kerala and southwest Tamil Nadu.

25. Match List-I with List-II and select the correct answer using the code given below the Lists:

List-I (Tributary)List-II (River)
A. Sutlej1. Yamuna
B. Kosi2. Brahmaputra
C. Teesta3. Ganga
D. Chambal4. Indus

Code:ABCD
(a)1324
(b)1234
(c)4321
(d)4231
Correct Answer: (c) 4
Solution:
  • Sutlej is tributary of Indus River. It rises from west of the catchment area of Lake Rakshastal in Tibet.
  • Kosi river is tributary of Ganges and its source is Sunkoshi.
  • Teesta river is tributary of Brahmaputra and its source lies in Eastern Himalayas in Pauhunri mountains.
  • Chambal river is the tributary of Yamuna and meets in Etawah district of UP and its source is near the Singar Chouri crest in the northern sides of the Vindhyan cliffs, 15 km west to southwest of Mhow in Indore District, Madhya Pradesh.

26. Which one of the following pairs is not correctly matched?

Correct Answer: (d) Hydrotropic : Flower
Solution:
  • Shoots, or above-ground parts of plants, generally display positive phototropism-they bend toward the light.
  • As the roots always grow in the downward direction or in the direction of the force of gravity they are regarded as positively geotropic.
  • Chemotropism can be observed during the growth of the pollen tube towards the ovules. This is due to the ovary releasing chemicals that influence the development of pollen tubes.
  • Statement (d) is incorrect as Hydrotropism is a plant's growth response in which the direction of growth is determined by a stimulus or gradient in water concentration. Mainly related to roots.

27. Which one of the following metals does not react with oxygen, water or acids?

Correct Answer: (d) Au
Solution:Gold (Au) does not react with oxygen, water or acid because it is the least reactive element in the periodic table. Although Gold is reactive to aqua-regia.

28. Which one of the following metals produces hydrogen with cold water?

Correct Answer: (b) Sodium
Solution:Sodium when reacts with water produces Hydrogen. Sodium reacts with water and form Hydrogen gas 2Na+2H₂O → 2NaOH+H₂

The hydrogen gas produced hissing sound.

29. Manganese is extracted by heating manganese dioxide with aluminium powder. Which one of the following statements with regard to the reaction is correct?

Correct Answer: (a) The reaction is exothermic.
Solution:When manganese dioxide (MnO2) is heated with aluminium powder, displacement reaction takes place, and manganese is obtained as the product along with aluminium oxide. It is an exothermic reaction and hence Mn is obtained in molten form.

3MnO₂(s) + 4Al(s) → 3Mn (1) + 2Al₂O₃(s) + heat

30. Which one of the following properties decreases across the periodic table from left to right and increases from top to bottom?

Correct Answer: (d) Atomic radius
Solution:
  • Atomic radius is determined as the distance between the nuclei of two identical atoms bonded together.
  • The atomic radius of atoms generally decreases from left to right across a period.
  • The atomic radius of atoms generally increases from top to bottom within a group.
