• During 2004 tsunami the southern most point of Indian Union Territory 'Indira Point' got submerged under the sea water.

• The Hispar Glacier, a tributary of the Hunza river, rises from the meltwater of the glacier.

• It is India's first and most important producer of steel rails.

•  It was set up with the help of the USSR in 1959.

• The average size of the holding has been estimated as 1.15 hectare.

• Tirumala Hills are part of Seshachalam Hills range. The hills are 853 metres above sea level. The Hills comprises seven peaks, representing the seven heads of Adisesha.

• Bangladesh and Pakistan share both land borders as well as maritime borders, while Sri Lanka shares only a maritime border.

• It originates in Himalayan Lake Manasarover in Tibet to empty in the Bay of Bengal.

• It is known as the Yarlung Tsangpo river in Tibet, the Brahmaputra, Lohit, Siang, and Dihang in India, and the Jamuna in Bangladesh.

• It is the most continuous range consisting of the highest peaks with an average height of 6,000 metres.

• From its source it flows north into south eastern Rajasthan state.

• The sanctuary was notified as RF (Reserve Forest) in 1963 under the Madras Act, 1882.
