• It originally refers to the Spirit Goddess of Wind and Rain (Nature) and so wild wind occurs in Assam, that marks the incoming monsoon season.

• It it is accompanied with heavy showers and strong wind causing widespread damage.

• Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Chenab, and Jhelum join together and enter the Indus near Mithankot in Pakistan.

• After that, the Indus flows southwards and finally reaches the Arabian Sea, east of Karachi.

• Khadins is a system of water harvesting used in the areas where there is an occurrence of the least amount of rainfall and the water scarcity level is high.

• The Khadins are built in Jaisalmer to collect rainwater.

• With growing recurrence, Kal Baishakhi happens from March until the monsoon settles over northeast India.

• During such a span of time. violent thunderstorms are witnessed in northeastern states including Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Assam, and West Bengal.

• These tigers generally thrive on mangrove and deciduous forests, which gives way to a lot of marshy swamps and grasslands which are ideal for these tigers to hide themselves while preying, for their food.

•  A dam is used to collect water or for storage of water which can be evenly distributed between locations.

•  Reservoirs created by dams not only suppress floods but also provide water for activities such as irrigation, human consumption, industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability.

• The land between two rivers is called as doab.

• This region is also known as 'Majha' in Punjab.

• It consists of four districts namely, Pathankot. Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Tarn Taran.

•  This Standard meridian passes through Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh and it is considered as the standard time for the whole country.

• It passes through 5 states of India, namely Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh. Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

• This is because of the availability of low cost iron ore, high grade raw materials and cheap labour in this region.

• The Damodar River Valley, rich in coal, is also situated in this region.

• This rainy extension of the generally dry retreating monsoon is called the northeast, or winter, monsoon.

• It is in contrast to the south west monsoon that brings rainfall over the Northern plains and eastern India during July-September.
