• Formed in 1908 on the recommendation of Mary Curzon, the park is located in the edge of the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspots.

• The park, which hosts two thirds of the world's great one horned rhinoceroses, was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006.

• This plain is composed of alluvial soil which has been deposited over millions of years.

• Stretches of the Northern Plains from west to east are around 2400 km long. and those from north to south are about 150-320 km long.

• It stretches from central and western Afghanistan into northwestern Pakistan and far southeastern Tajikistan.

• The eastern end of the Hindu Kush in the north merges with the Karakoram Range.

• It is a state in central India.

• 54.73% of Kerala's population are Hindus, 26.56% are Muslims, and 18.38% are Christians.

• It is followed by Tamil Nadu (4.4 million) & Meghalaya (2.2 million)

• It is the capital and the largest city of Uttar Pradesh.

• Thereafter, these two rivers are known as the Ganges.

• According to mythology, there is another river that belongs to this confluence named Saraswati, which originates from Mana Village in Badrinath.

• Northern Part: It lies in the North of river Krishna and is called the 'Northern Circars'.

• Southern Part: The southern part of the Eastern Coast is known as the Coromandel Coast.

• The Northern Circars consist of the deltas of Mahanadi, Godavari, and Krishna.

• It is situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi river and the Bay of Bengal.

•  The Port of Paradip is the primary port in Odisha, and one of the largest on India's east coast.

• The park is bounded by the Brahmaputra and Lohit rivers in the north and Dibru River in the south.

• It was designated a Biosphere Reserve in July 1997.
