From the point of view of architecture, the Sanchi Stupa is the best specimen of art. Sanchi is located in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.

It was built by Ashoka, the ruler of the Maurya dynasty. The earliest period of this stupa dates back to the 3rd century BC.

Sanchi was discovered by General Taylor in 1818 AD. Sanchi is located in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. Sanchi is famous for Buddhist stupas.

Sanchi Stupa was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1989.

The place belonging to the period between the 3rd century BC and the 12th century AD is Sanchi, famous for its exquisite Buddhist art and architecture. ‘The Great Stupa’ (Stupa No.-1) at Sanchi was built by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC.

Dhamek Stupa at Sarnath, built by the great Mauryan emperor Ashoka, is one of the major structures located in India.

Mauryan pillars represent rock-cut pillars. Most of the pillars in the Maurya period were made by cutting shall (stone).

The Mauryan Pillar Head found at Sarnath is known as Singh Chaturmukh Pillar Head. This pillar was built by Emperor Ashoka. On the top of this pillar is the figure of a lion, which is a symbol of power. This replica has been taken by the Government of India as its emblem.

Pushyamitra Shunga founded the Sunga dynasty in 184 BC after killing Brihadratha, the last Maurya ruler.
