Solution:Project Elephant, a centrally sponsored scheme was launched in February 1992, by the Government of India, for the following purposes -1. To protect elephants, their habitats & corridors
2. To prevent man-animal conflicts and
3. Welfare of captive and domesticated elephants
It is noteworthy that the government of India had notified a total of 33 Elephant Reserves in India Terai Elephant Reserve (Uttar Pradesh) is the 33rd elephant reserve in country.
