Solution:On 8th September 2016, it was announced to select a place called Aundha in the Hingoli district of Maharashtra to establish of LIGO laboratory. A state-of-the-art gravitational wave observatory is to be set up in India under the LIGO India project.

Which will coordinate with the observatory in Washington and Louisiana in the US and jointly operated by the California Institute of Technology and MIT. It will be the first observatory outside the US, with the third being the LIGO Observatory.

Recently in April 2023, government approved the construction of this LIGO project after seven years of in-principle approval. It is expected to begin scientific runs from 2030. It is noteworthy that the LIGO in the U.S. first detected Gravitational waves in 2015, which led to a Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017.
