Northern Mountainous Region

The correct sequence of mountain peaks from east to west is: Kanchenjunga, Everest, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri. Kanchenjunga is the third tallest mountain in the world. Three of the five summits of the Kanchenjunga (main, central, and south) are situated on the boundary of the North Sikkim district in Sikkim, India and the Taplejung District in Nepal. The Annapurna region is an area in north central Nepal where some of the most popular treks are located. Dhaulagiri Peak is also located in West Central Nepal, west of Annapurna peak.

Patkai Range is originated in the tertiary era. Remaining all ranges/hills are situated in South and Central India. Thus the latest mountain range is Patkai Range. The Patkai Range is a mountain range in northeastern India that forms a natural border with Myanmar. It is part of the Purvanchal range, also known as the Eastern Highlands. Known for its rugged terrain, steep hillsides, and dense forest cover. Conical peaks, steep slopes, and deep valleys. The Dehing river flows through the range, meeting the Brahmaputra in the Sivasagar district of Assam.

Pir Panjal Range is located in Middle Himalaya. It is spread in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir from south east to north west. It starts in Ramban and extends westward in the south of Jammu and Kashmir (Vale of Kashmir) to the last extremity of Muzaffarabad District. It isrising sharply to an average elevation of more than 13,000 feet (4,000 meters). It separates the Jammu Hills to the south from the Vale of Kashmir, beyond which lie the Great Himalayas. It separates itself from the Himalayas near the bank of the Sutlej river and forms a divide between the rivers Beas and Ravi on one side and the Chenab on the other.

• Major passes: Six historical passes, Hajipir Pass, Gulabgarh Pass, Ratanpir Pass, Pir Panjal Pass, Banihal Pass, and Bairam Gala Pass are in this mountain range.
• Important peaks: Deo Tibba (6,001 m) and Indrasan (6,221m) are two important peaks at the eastern end of the mountain range.

Aksai Chin is spread over about 3800 square kilometers in Ladakh region. It is an Indian territory under the occupation of China. The Ladakh Plateau is one of the world's highest plateaus, with an elevation of about 3,000 meters (9,800 ft) above sea level. It is bordered by the Himalayas and the Karakoram mountain ranges. The Ladakh Plateau includes the upper Indus river valley. The Ladakh Range is a southeastern extension of the Karakoram Range.
