'P' waves are like sound waves P waves can move through gaseous, liquid & solid medium. 'P' waves are fastest seismic wave. S waves can only move through solid rocks. S waves are slower than 'P' waves. 'L' waves are fastest surface wave and moves the ground from side to side. 'L' waves follow zigzag path and arrive later than 'S' and 'P' waves.
