13. A train of length 300 m crosses a tree in 20 seconds and crosses another train of the same length travelling in opposite direction in 25 seconds. What is the speed of the second train? [SSC CHSL 20/03/2023 (2nd Shift)]

Correct Answer: (d) 9 m/s
Solution:

14. A train starts from a place S at 10:00 am and arrives at another place T at 2:30 p.m. on the same day. If the speed of the train is 40 m/s, then what will be the distance covered by the train? [SSC CHSL 21/03/2023 (4th Shift)]

Correct Answer: (b) 648 km
Solution:

15. A circular clock has the hour hand of length 6 inch. Find the length of the distance it covers by it's tip from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. [SSC CGL 02/12/2022 (1st Shift)]

Solution:

16. The distance covered by a train in (5y - 1) hours is (125y³ - 1) km. The speed of the train is: [SSC CGL 02/12/2022 (2nd Shift)]

Correct Answer: (d) (25y² + 5y +1) Km/h
Solution:

17. How far will the tip of a 2 cm-long minute hand of a clock move in 45 minutes? [SSC CGL 02/12/2022 (3rd Shift)]

Correct Answer: (b) 3π cm
Solution:

18. A car starts from point A towards point B, travelling at the speed of 20 km/h. 1½ hours later, another car starts from point A and travelling at the speed of 30 km/h and reaches 2½ hours before the first car. Find the distance between A and B. [SSC CGL 03/12/2022 (1st Shift)]

Correct Answer: (b) 240 km
Solution:

The speed of the First car be 20 km/h and the speed of the second car be 30km/h Let 't' be the time taken by the second car to complete the
journey.
Then time taken by the first car to complete the journey = (1.5 + t + 25) hrs.
Now, equating the total distance in both case, we get :-
30 × t = 20 × (1.5 + t + 2.5) hrs
30t = 80 + 20t ⇒ t = 8 hr
30t = 80 + 20t ⇒ t = 8hr
Now, total distance = 30 × t = 30 × 8
= 240km.

19. A thief steals a bike at 12:30 p.m. and drives it at 48 km/h. But the theft was discovered after half an hour. The bike owner starts to chase him on another bike at 58 km/h. The thief will be caught at______ . [SSC CGL 03/12/2022 (2nd Shift)]

Correct Answer: (d) 3:24 p.m.
Solution:

20. A policeman sees a chain snatcher at a distance of 500m. He starts chasing a chain snatcher running with a speed of 5 m/s, while the policeman is chasing him with a speed of 15 m/s. What is the distance covered by the chain snatcher when he is caught by the policeman? [SSC CGL 03/12/2022 (3rd Shift)]

Correct Answer: (d) 250m
Solution:

Policeman is chasing chain snatcher so, relative speed of policeman and chain snatcher = 15 - 5 = 10 m/s
Chain snatcher visible to policeman at a distance of 500 m.
Time require by policeman to catch chain snatcher = 500/10 = 50 sec
Distance travelled by chain snatcher in 50 sec = 5 m/s × 50 sec = 250m
