Correct Answer: (b) I was familiar with every bit of the cell.
Note:
When the narrator says that he was "almost a part of it" he means that he was familiar with every corner of the cell.(a) It is true that he was not alone in the cell; there were lots of insects to keep him company. But this is not the meaning conveyed by the quoted text. The same goes for options (c) and (d).
