• These forests occur on the lower slopes of the Himalaya in Bengal and Assam and on other hill ranges such as Khasi, Nilgiri, Mahabaleshwar, etc.

• Oak, Chestnut, Ash, Birch, Pine are common species of this vegetation.

• It is an important pilgrimage center for the Muslim in this region.

• It is said that this mosque contains the sacred soil of the original Mecca.

• It was built by Shujauddin Muhammad Shah in 1657 AD.

• All these animals have thick fur to keep them warm.

• It mainly originates in the large desert regions of the northwestern Indian subcontinent: the Great Indian Desert, the Cholistan Desert, and the desert areas of Southern Balochistan.

• It causes extremely low humidity and high temperatures, exposure to it often leads to fatal heat strokes.

•  One of the major benefits of dams and reservoirs is that water flows can be regulated as per agricultural requirements of the various regions over the year.

• The Mahadeo Hills separates the basin of the Narmada River to the north from that of the Wainganga and Wardha rivers, tributaries of the Godavari, to the south.

• It connects the Bay of Bengal in the northeast with the Palk Bay and then with the Gulf of Mannar in the southwest.

• The strait is named after Robert Palk, the governor of Madras Presidency during 1755-1763.

• After flowing into the upland. it comes down and meets Hugli river in West Bengal.

• They grew plentifully in the Western Ghats, the Chota Nagpur plateau as well as the Shivalik mountain range.

• A few species of trees include teak, sal, bamboo as well as rosewood.

• It later passes into the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh where it is known as the Siang.

• After reaching Assam, the river is known as Brahmaputra.
